Duterte campaign goes hip hop with the viral video support by

MANILA, Philippines – A hip hop campaign video supporting Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, made and produced by two local boyband members, is going viral on social media.

The nearly 4-minute catchy campaign jingle titled “2:30 (Let’s Du It)” was performed by twins MJ and MM Magno of the XLR8 boyband. It also featured upcoming singer Kris Angelica with three female dancers as back up.

The video was shared on Facebook and You Tube last week and has racked up thousands of views and shares. The clip continues to go viral on social media after it was picked by several Facebook pages dedicated to helping Mayor Duterte’s campaign.

In the clip, the Magno twins sing and dance their way to highlight the many problems plaguing the country such as the horrible traffic in Metro Manila, criminality, drug trafficking, corruptiion and even the laglag-bala (bullet-planting) scheme at the airport, among many others.

The twins also included in their lyrics the slogan “Oras na ng Pagbabago”, which is widely associated with the campaign of the tandem of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Alan Peter Cayetano.

“Lumalala na mga adik sa droga…Wag mag-alala, dahil malapit, oras na ng pagbabago,” the boyband singers express in their song. [Drug addiction is getting worse. But don’t worry, now is the time for change.]

“Ang tanong, handa na ba tayong lahat para sa pagkakaisa. Bakit ‘di natin simula sa ating sarili ang pagbabago,” Kris Angelika added for her part. [The question is, are we ready to unite. Why don’t we start change with ourselves.]

The sexy back up dancers are friends of the twins and are also supporters of Duterte; as disclosed by the twins on their FB page.

The music was produced and arranged by the Magno twins; choreography is by XB Gensan Jay Joseph Roncesvalles, while MV contributed in the official lyrics.
